Indicating success: Evaluation of community protected areas in Cambodia
The goal of this paper is to establish some challenges and suitable techniques for improving the livelihoods of people living in Cambodia’s community protected areas. The main issues facing community protected areas are: facilitators’ lack of capacity as well as insufficient training given to local people, which often leads to misunderstandings between people and institutions; some community members are interested but do not have sufficient time to be involved as they are extremely poor and do not have enough time to fully participate in community training and management; the benefit sharing between community and government needs to be communicated more efficiently and strengthened by the legal framework.
