Pre-feasibility assessment on electric buses in Siem Reap, Cambodia
Siem Reap is Cambodia's second-largest city and most popular tourist destination, home to the Angkor Wat World Heritage Site. Pre-COVID-19 increases in tourist numbers generated negative environmental impacts, including greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions and traffic congestion. As a result, there is a clear need to introduce a range of mitigation measures, such as sustainable and smart transport systems like electric public buses. This study assesses the technical, environmental, and financial feasibility of introducing three new bus lines as a pilot project using low-carbon vehicles. These three pilot bus lines were suggested by the Department of Urban Public Transport of the Cambodian Ministry of Public Works and Transport.
