Law on nationality (2018)

The purpose of this law is to ensure the exercise of the jurisdiction of the Kingdom of Cambodia over natural persons in order to determine the right to acquire and the right to relinquish Khmer nationality for individuals who reside in the territory of the Kingdom of Cambodia or abroad and who satisfy the conditions of this law.

Short notes of change

  • The Law on Nationality promulgated by Royal Kram No. NS/RKM/1096/30 dated October 9, 1996, shall be repealed and replaced by this Law.

  • All legal instruments related to the implementation of the Law on Nationality, which was promulgated by Royal Kram No. NS/RKM/1096/30 dated October 9, 1996, shall remain in force until new legal instruments are issued to replace them, in accordance with the provisions of this Law.
