The World Heritage Convention was adopted in 1972 to safeguard the planet’s most significant sites. This special supplement by the Cambodia Daily documents the 37th meeting of the World Heritage Committee, which gathered in Phnom Penh to review its work and ensure the protection of endangered sites. About 1,300 delegates from 125 countries were expected to take part in the 11-day session. The delegates discussed historical and natural sites that countries attending
the event either fought to have put on, or argued to keep on, the World Heritage List.
