IUCN Red List for the Lower Mekong

Data from the The IUCN Red List of Threatened Species 2015-4 and updated to include list from 2021, showing the total number of animal species in each category of the Red List, e.g. endangered, threatened, etc, across the Lower Mekong region. Collated for a visualization on the OD Mekong Environment and natural resources page (https://opendevelopmentmekong.net/topics/environment-and-natural-resources/).

Process Step The two PDF documents for animal and plant categories by country downloaded from IUCN. Copied the table containing data for Southeast Asia to an Excel spreadsheet, and then removed the countries not part of the Lower Mekong, to leave Cambodia, Laos, Myanmar, Thailand and Vietnam. While the data for plants was copied to the spreadsheet, only the animal species data was used in the visualization created in Tableau Public.
