Geopolitical risks: Transboundary rivers

This article explores increasing tensions in south and south east Asia arising from transboundary rivers. The author describes major rivers in the region and the security landscape. The geopolitics of dams and diversion are then discussed, with reference to China’s dam projects and management of transboundary waters.
