In the first six months of 2018, the growth rate of agricultural production exceeded the set target. However, the situation of natural disasters is posing a challenge to the whole agricultural sector in the second half of 2018. In particular, the whole cultivation sector is continuing to implement the policy of changing the structure of crops on inefficient rice land (shifting 32.8 thousand hectares of unproductive rice land to growing vegetables, fruits and perennial industrial plants which have higher economic value). At the same time, to enhance the use of high quality varieties and organize production under the model of "large fields" not only on rice but also on other vegetable crops; promote application of production under VietGAP process.
