This report provides a review of shifting cultivation across three Myanmar REDD+ programme documents. The initial background study on drivers of deforestation concluded that more assessment was needed before determining the impact of shifting cultivation as a potential driver of forest degradation. The "condensed" second drivers report removed relevant data and changed the conclusion of the initial report, identifying shifting cultivation as direct driver of deforestation. The draft REDD+ strategy, currently undergoing a consultation process, identifies shifting cultivation as a high-priority driver of deforestation and has developed REDD+ policies and measures based on this assessment.
